The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), following the execution of a bench warrant issued against him.

“Good evening Everyone,”We have just confirmed the arrest of Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi by a team of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Osun State,” ASP, Aminu Koje said on Tuesday evening, when Journalists pressed for updates on the court order for his arrest.

Koje who is the Personal Assistant to the Force Public Relations Officer, could not give details regarding Adeyemi’s arrest.

He however confirmed the arrest, concluding his short response, saying, “Thank you”.

The Force HQ confirmed that Adeyemi remains in custody and is expected to face legal proceedings in accordance with the law.

His arrest signals the commencement of investigations into the alleged operations of the purported council.

Adeyemi was apprehended in connection with allegations surrounding the activities of the agency, which had earlier been disowned by the Federal Government and being labeled as “fake”.

The Presidency had previously distanced itself from the organisation, while anti-corruption and security agencies commenced separate investigations into its activities.

Last week, The First Mail newspaper in Abuja reports that President Bola Tinubu ordered the ICPC to investigate Adeyemi.

Adeyemi on Monday reportedly claimed that his life was being threatened

….more reports coming as details unfold.
